If you have spent any time in the forums, then you are probably already aware that i am a fan of an artist from florida named gundito. his paintings make you question, think, and provoke some amount of laughter usually. well, he made the news recently.
one of his more controversial paintings titled “Way Down Yonder in the Land of Cotton (Southern by Birth, Ignorant by Choice)” was put up for sale on ebay. normally, its not that big of a deal. but this painting speaks out against the kkk. and apparently, that struck a BIG nerve with the folks at ebay who promptly removed him and his auction.
maybe you are thinking it was just misinterpreted? they do have an anti-hate/racism clause. but with the title of the painting, as well as the title of the auction stating that it was an ANTI-KLAN painting… it doesnt leave a lot of room for that misinterpretation.
sad to see that in this day and age, there might actually be closet bigots being employed at ebay.
