Default Valentine's plans?

Anyone doing anything dinner related? We usually just cook artichokes & lobster at home. Dinner out is too expensive, too rushed, and too awful to eat. We've done this meal for years (16?), so something a little different might be fun. Suggestions?

(Made halibut tonight. Pretty good, but something was a little missing. Fish is definitely my weak point.)

Not sure what we'll do for V-Day dinner, but the wife says she wants to stay in that night...we might go out another night, but we'll still do something special for dinning-in.

I'm not great at fish either, but I typically find, the simpler the better. Halibut is best when broiled or grilled with lemon and a little salt and pepper. That is my favorite meat hands down.....just barely surpasses a medium-ribeye.

My father in law passed away almost a year ago, but he was quite a fisherman and had taken excursions to Alaska and brought back a ton of halibut he caught (I think he calculated it around $1,000 worth of halibut alone), vacuum packed and frozen - 2 years later, he found one in the back of their freezer, and it was still just as good as the day he came back and that was the way he prepared it.

My parents are visiting for a week and we are all going to Telluride to ski and hang out for that weekend. My wife hates valentines day so luckily I do not have to do anything for it

The good thing about Valentine's, I suppose, is it's corrollary: March 14.

monkfish does taste like lobster.

most people tend to overcook fish - and the people that say they don't like it generally will like it when prepared correctly.

my V-day plans...dunno yet. I've got theater tickets (Miss Saigon) and dinner on the 11th...reckon that will count? LD

Good luck in Peru following the recent flooding.

You might want to cover up those adequate tatas of yours as men in Peru love to verbally accost women. Especially white women.

I once saw a construction site shut down for 5 mins so the whole crew could come to one side and yell and whistle at a scantly clad lady.
